Jarrell Miller couldn’t help but appreciate the effort.
Daniel Dubois has never been confused for a big talker but he brought his best sound bites to fight week ahead of his scheduled ten-round heavyweight clash versus the unbeaten Brooklyn native. The Londoner made a play on Miller’s ‘Big Baby’ moniker, stating that “every baby has a daddy. I’m gonna beat you like I’m your daddy. What’s up?”
The quip drew applause and a hearty laugh from its stated target.
“Hey!! I don’t know what card you read that from but I’m happy you did it,” Miller shot back during Thursday’s final pre-fight press conference. “A-B-C-D, 1-2-3, Daniel Dubois just lost his virginity.”
Miller opted to take it easy on his opponent and every other heavyweight at the table, after terrorizing most of his divisional peers since arriving in Saudi Arabia earlier this week. The 35-year-old still dropped a few gems ahead of his scheduled ten-round bout versus Dubois (19-2, 18KOs) at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena.
Specifically, Miller (26-0-1, 22KOs) took aim at Dubois’ two career knockout defeats, most recently in of his failed title bid versus WBA, IBF and WBO titlist Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14KOs) on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.
“I’m gonna cook this shrimp, the two-time quitter,” vowed Miller, who has won three straight since a four-year inactive stretch due to the pandemic and back-to-back drug testing scandals. “Listen, after the Usyk fight, I heard he finally got some vagina. I’m happy for you. I applaud you for knowing what the gushy-gushy feel like.
“Well, I’m gonna make your face mushy-mushy come Saturday night. I’m locked in.”
Dubois-Miller is part of an eight-fight ‘Day of Reckoning’ Pay-Per-View event that will air live in the U.K. beginning at 4:00 p.m. GMT and in the U.S. beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET.
