Wilder Warns Parker: I Got NyQuil in My Right Hand – I Hope You Bring a Pillow and Blanket!

Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is not worried about his upcoming opponent, Joshua Parker, receiving strategic advice from Tyson Fury.

Fury, the current WBC champion, face Wilder on three occasions.

In the first bout, in 2018, Fury was dropped twice in their controversial twelve round split draw. Fury won the rematch, in 2020, by knockout. Fury was also dropped twice in the trilogy fight but scored three knockdowns of his own before finally stopping Wilder.

Parker and Fury are close friends and training partners. They also share trainer Andy Lee.

On Saturday night in Saudi Arabia, Wilder and Parker will collide as part of the big ‘Day of Reckoning’ card.

Wilder does not believe Fury’s pointers will play a role in the fight.

“We’re gonna find out Saturday night. I’m glad that he’s getting advice, I hope he’s taking it all in,” Wilder said. “Because when he wakes up he’s gonna be like, ‘Damn, they lied to me.'”

Wilder is not looking for a decision. He wants to knock Parker out inside the distance. Parker has picked up three wins in a row since suffering a stoppage loss to Joe Joyce in 2022.

“I come to do what I do best and that’s to give the fans what they want to see. No one wants to see a twelve round fight, there’s a whole bunch of heavyweights up here and we the hard hitters,” Wilder said.

“People have things to do, they want to come and see a fight and after that they want to go party. So, when you’re watching me, don’t blink, I’ll give you what you want to see. Nowadays, my name is called Dr Sleep and I’ve definitely got the NyQuil in my right hand. So, I hope he brings a pillow and a blanket, it get’s a little chilly at night.”
