Raul Curiel is set for his second straight headlining act.
The unbeaten Mexican prospect weighed right at the 147-pound limit for his first of 2023, which headlines Thursday’s Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN show from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. Guadalajara’s Curiel will face Courtney Pennington, who was 146.8 pounds for their scheduled ten-round bout.
Curiel has not fought since a second-round knockout of Brad Solomon (29-6, 9KOs) last December 17 at Commerce Casino, California. The bout marked the first main event for the 27-year-old from Guadalajara, who has stopped each of his last seven opponents.
Pennington (17-6-3, 7KOs) is just 2-2 in his last four starts. The well-traveled Brooklyn native went ten hard rounds with unbeaten blue-chip junior middleweight Charles Conwell in June 2019, after which point he won three straight. He has since won two of his last four, including a split decision victory over spoiler James Martin on May 20 in his opponent’s Philadelphia, hometown.
The bout headlines a six-fight card on DAZN beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
