Yesterday, Puerto Rico’s Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo (7-0, 5 KOs) hosted a press conference ahead of his WBO Mini Flyweight World Championship defense against Garen “Hellboy” Diagan (10-3, 5 KOs) of General Santos City, Philippines on Saturday, August 26. Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN will take place at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan and is presented in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions. The DAZN broadcast begins at 8:00 p.m. ET/ 5:00 p.m. PT.
The stacked undercard was also announced at the press conference. In the co-main event and in another classic Puerto Rico vs. Mexico fight, NABF super flyweight champion Juan Carlos “El Indio” Camacho Jr. (15-1, 7KOs) will face Guadalajara, Mexico’s Jorge Orozco (17-3-2, 11 KOs) in a 10-round bout at 115 pounds.
Former WBO 108-pound world champion Angel “Tito” Acosta is back in a 10-round bout for the vacant WBO International Flyweight Championship against a soon-to-be-announced opponent. In an undefeated duel, the top prospect from the Dominican Republic Yan Carlos “Dangerous” Santana (8-0, 8 KOs) will face a tough test against the hard-hitting Puerto Rican Jostin Ortíz (4-0, 3 KOs) of Vega Alta in a six-round fight in the featherweight division.
From Chihuahua, Mexico and training out of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico Yair “Manotas” Gallardo (4-0, 4 KOs) will face Wichita, Kansas’ Kevin Johnson (3-1, 1 KO) in a six-round bout in the cruiserweight division. From Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Yariel Santiago (7-0, 2 KOs) looks to prove that he is the most important lightweight in Puerto Rico when he meets José Del Valle (5-11- 3,1 KO) in a six-round fight at 135 pounds.
Jean Pagán, the son of veteran Olympic coach Luis ‘Jim’ Pagán, will make his debut as a professional before all his people in San Juan. José Díaz of Barranquitas and cousin of the great mountain fighter ‘Pitufo’ Díaz will also debut in a four-round fight at 130 pounds. Opponents for both will be announced soon.
