The UFC flyweight title is on the line in Las Vegas as UFC 290 features a double-header of title fights during International Fight Week.
Defending 125-pound king Brandon Moreno faces a major test of his championship credentials as he takes on Alexandre Pantoja in the co-main event at T-Mobile Arena on July 8. It’s a bout that will see the pair go head to head for the second time in the Octagon, with Pantoja earning a unanimous decision win over Moreno in Chile back in 2018. Now Moreno holds the title, and Pantoja is looking to repeat the feat by defeating “The Assassin Baby” for a second time to capture the flyweight title.
After that defeat to Pantoja, Moreno was cut by the UFC. But, in a incredible career turnaround, the Mexican fought his way back, earned a second chance on the big stage, and took his opportunity with both hands, eventually winning the flyweight title. Now, after completing his remarkable four-fight rivalry with Brazilian Deiveson Figueiredo, Moreno now faces former nemesis Pantoja in a huge rematch.
Ahead of the bout, the UFC’s Countdown cameras caught up with both fighters, and their teams, as they made their final preparations for their pivotal matchup. Check it out via the video player below.
