Although Paul and Diaz landed almost the same amount of power punches, Paul’s punches were generally harder. Paul had an easier time setting up his power punches, connecting on 48% of them, while Diaz landed 39% of his power punches.
Diaz only threw 45 jabs (landing 8), while Paul threw 202 jabs (landing 34). Paul’s use of the jab to gauge distance and set up his offense, and Diaz’s disregard of the jab illustrates the gulf in boxing acumen.
