English heavyweight hero Tom Aspinall blasted past Marcin Tybura in just over one minute, then set his sights on a shot at UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Aspinall produced a stunning performance to finish Marcin Tybura in just 73 seconds at The O2 Arena as he announced his return to fitness, in spectacular fashion.
And, after lapping up the cheers of the London crowd, Aspinall chatted with Michael Bisping as he talked about his difficult path back from a serious knee injury sustained against Curtis Blaydes in the same arena 12 months ago.
“It’s been a really tough year for me,” he explained.
“And guys, listen. I wasn’t myself. I wasn’t myself last year. And this is a whole new version of me. I’m not gonna say that ‘I’m back’ because I’m different now. I’m just different than what I was last year. My mind is different. My body’s different. And I’m going all the way.”
Aspinall’s attention then turned to his blistering performance on the night, as he claimed the 13th win of his professional career to get back to winning ways after his injury-TKO defeat to Blaydes last year.
“Listen, that seemed like an easy fight, but Marcin’s a really, really good guy,” he said.
“The guy’s won seven of his last eight in the top 10. And let’s give him a cheer guys, because this guy’s a really, really good human being.
“That was really tough to fight and tonight, that guy is my friend. And big respect to Marcin for everything.”
Then Bisping asked Aspinall when he thought he would earn a shot at the heavyweight title currently held by Jon Jones.
“Give me that microphone, Mike Bisping!” he said.
“I’ll tell you exactly what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna go to Paris. I’m gonna be sat front row for Cyril Gane against Serghei Spivac.
“I’m gonna beat the winner. And then I’m gonna beat Jon Jones.”
