Former two division champion David Haye has continued to back social media star KSI in the upcoming clash with unbeaten light heavyweight prospect Tommy Fury.
Fury, the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is tabbed by most as the favorite in Saturday’s fight in Manchester.
Back in February, Fury pulled off the biggest win of his pro career when he outboxed another social media star, Jake Paul, to an eight round split decision victory. Fury was the first pro boxer that Paul had ever faced.
KSI has also never faced a true pro boxer. He stepped in the ring with Joe Fournier, 40-years-old, earlier this year – but the fight was rendered as a two round no-contest after Fournier was knocked out by an accidental elbow shot to the jaw from KSI.
However, there are many who regard Fury as a novice boxer or a part-time boxer.
Haye does not believe Fury is a much better fighter than KSI.
“I think KSI beats him. Everybody just believes Tommy’s so much better. The best name on his record is Jake Paul, and that was a close fight in which he got knocked down,” Haye explained to Joe.ie.
“I think everybody’s overrating Tommy and very much underrating KSI, and that gives KSI a massive advantage. I believe it’s gonna be a big shock.”
KSI is oozing with confidence, and he believes a there is a high probability that he knocks Fury out in their bout.
“I’m going to just stand there and fight him, Jake ran away from Tommy’s combinations. I’m not running away, I’m standing in the middle of the ring and I’m fighting him,” KSI said to The Mirror.
“I’ve watched [Fury and Paul’s fight] many times, every angle on slo-mo, every stance, every little bit of detail that I need to know in order to beat Tommy Fury. Tommy has got some certain combinations that he likes doing that he’s pretty good at and we’re looking out for that.
“Obviously he’s a big guy that likes to clinch so we’re going to be watching that and we’re going to fight him. Just go in there and fight, go crazy, it’s simple. I’m going to test that chin and I’m going to show him that my power is different to Jake Paul.”
