Erik Bazinyan and Ronald Ellis will face off on October 11th as part of the event being staged by Eye of the Tiger at the Casino de Montreal. The NABF and NABA super middleweight titles, currently held by Bazinyan, will be at stake.
This bout will be broadcast live on Punching Grace and ESPN+, serving as the co-main event for the IBF and IBO super middleweight world championship fight between Mary Spencer and Femke Hermans.
Currently ranked #2 by WBA, #3 by WBC, and IBF, Bazinyan (30-0, 21 KOs) has had a successful journey since turning pro. His adversity level rose after facing Alantez Fox, Marcelo Esteban Coceres, and Jose de Jesus Macias, and he now wants to show he’s ready for high-profile fights.
“This fight is like a main event. We know Ellis’s tenacity and determination in the ring, and we see this match as a good challenge for Erik. With his rankings and the progress he’s made, he’s at that level now. We have high aspirations for him, and Ellis is one more step to cross to reaffirm himself in the super middleweight division and show the federations that Bazinyan is a formidable opponent for the 168 elite,” says EOTTM President Camille Estephan.
As demonstrated in his fight against Christian Mbilli and the #1 WBC contender David Benavidez, Ellis (18-3-2, 12 KOs) has shown a strong ability to take punches. Having faced several elite boxers in the division, he has gained valuable experience.
Eye of the Tiger will soon reveal the opponents for their proteges participating in the event, including Simon Kean (23-1, 22 KOs), Wilkens Mathieu (3-0, 2 KOs), Leïla Beaudoin (9-1, 1 KO), Mehmet Unal (4-0, 4 KOs), and Jhon Orobio (3-0, 3 KOs).
