Dylan Price (15-0) is putting the final touches on his training camp for his February 18th ring return. The fight takes place at the Llevate Event Center in Chester, PA.
Standing across the ring from him will be Jobert Alvarez (20-4-2), who has only been stopped once in his pro career. Price plans on doubling that total.
“Yeah, we’re fighting a guy who is 20-4. He is a Filipino guy, he’s a good fighter. He went the distance with Juan Estrada and he fought a couple world champions and has only been stopped once. I hope to do it as well,” Price told Hustleboss.com.
The 24-year-old Philadelphia native is holding his training camp in Las Vegas and in a surprise, has added future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire to his training team.
“I am just getting ready to fight on February 18th. I am just training hard. I came out here to Vegas the last three weeks to get some work with Nonito and go over the game plan again,” said Price.
“My dad actually started talking to Nonito when we met him at the WBO Convention. And we just kind of hit it off from there, literally like our first day talking, we just got cool. Him and my dad staying exchanged numbers and stuff. It’s locked in. Looking forward to working with Nonito and then just learning new things from him.”
Price hopes that a win over Alvarez will put him on the fast track to a title shot. This will be his third fight scheduled for 10 rounds.
To help get him ready for the elite of the bantamweight division, Price has sparred many top fighters in the past including unified super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton.
“It was great work. Scooter always gave me great work, great advice. He always like, he’s one of them guys that just always wanna see me win. Stephen Fulton, Lamont Roach, Nonito Donaire, Andre Ward. I got the utmost love and respect for those guys because they just give me so many pointers and things like that on how to grow as a fighter,” Price explained.
The fight card can be seen on pay-per-view at www.profetsplus.com. If all goes as planned, Price hopes to return to action in the summer.
