The main event of UFC 291 sees the return of the BMF title, as former interim lightweight champions Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje get ready to go head to head in a mouthwatering rematch in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Neither man needs an introduction to longtime UFC fans. Put simply, they’re two of the most exciting fighters on the planet, and they’re going to run things back, with Poirier looking to go 2-0 over Gaethje following his fourth-round TKO finish of “The Highlight” in 2018. Gaethje, meanwhile, will be looking to exact revenge, level the score between the pair, and walk away with the UFC’s symbolic BMF title.
Both men have held interim lightweight gold. Both are 6-2 in their bouts since their last meeting, and both men’s defeats came in title fights against the same opponents – Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira. But who will run out victorious in the rematch?
Ahead of the matchup, former UFC welterweight title challenger and globally respected fight analyst Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy dives into the X’s and O’s of the matchup as he breaks down the matchup in “The War Room.”
