PFL president Ray Sefo was called into action again as, for the second week in a row, the voting fans disagreed with the PFL panel’s choice of who should be awarded a PFL contract.
There was certainly plenty to choose between on the night, as the women’s featherweight division took center stage at Universal Studios in Orlando where, after Sefo’s deciding vote, the only winner who failed to secure a finish ended up walking away with the PFL contract.
The opening bout saw former IMMAF world amateur champion New Zealand’s Michelle Montague claim a second-round submission of America’s Shaquita Amador Woods, while American Jackie Cataline claimed an even faster finish, stopping Dutch hopeful Senna van der Veerdonk via first-round TKO.
Brazil’s Evelyn then secured a second-round rear-naked-choke submission victory over American Jeslen Mishelle to put herself firmly in contention before America’s Amanda Leve earned a unanimous decision victory over Mongolian prospect Naranjargal Tsendayush.
After the panel of Randy Couture, Tyron Woodley and Paige VanZant conferred, they decided that Montague had done enough to earn a shot in the PFL. But the fans voted for Leve, meaning Sefo had to cast the deciding vote once again as he selected Leve to earn the PFL contract.
